Computer Security

My recommendations to protect the college computer system are:

Viruses:  For a computer to be protected from virus there is types of Anti -Virus software such as Norton or Sophos.

Media Failure: Any type of media failure such as computer crashing which can lose work,a recommendation to protect the college for media failure is to save any types of work by having a back up system that can restore any lost changes to work.

Spyware: Spyware is computer software that can retrieve any information from a person's computer without the user knowing that any information has been used.

Theft:To prevent theft from happening inside a college environment could be locking any door to prevent computer theft from happening or shutting down any computer system or network.

Vandalism:Vandalism can be prevented by tracking down a student who vandalises a computer system and therefore a student could be disciplined.

Hacking: To prevent hacking from happening to a computer;software such as firewall or any other software that prevents hacking from happening.

Computer Misuse: Computer misuse could be prevented by having a backup system that could prevent any files that could be lost;making data secure.

Natural disaster: Any natural disaster that happens can be prevented by having a backup server which can recover any files that could have been destroyed or an alternative place to store computers

These are the security risks that could happen inside a college environment,these risks will be ranked in order of which is a highest risk and which could be the lowest threat to the college

Computer Misuse Act:This act was developed to cope with the problem of computer hackers and viruses.
                                       In this act it is illegal to access any unauthorised data either by using blackmail amending any data by either amending files or deleting files.
                                       
Data Protection Act:  The Data Protection act was developed to give protection and to give rules of how any personal data that can be used,the act was also created to protect any individual from misuse of data.

Copyright,Design and Patents Act:This act was introduced to protect any persons work who have already created any original pieces work it also it protects copying any software
